Karla Trejo

• Innovation lead of the Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) research group, responsible for translating research into market innovation across the Resilient AI, Multimodal AI at the Edge-Cloud Continuum, Efficient AI at the Edge and Data & AI Architectures lines.
• Main liaison with i2CAT's business development units, defining AI strategies and identifying initiatives to foster partnerships with the public and private sectors across the Catalan territory.
• i2CAT's representative and AI Innovation Manager within the Centre of Innovation for Data Tech and Artificial Intelligence (CIDAI), contributing to strategic initiatives and delivering impactful projects that support the objectives of Catalonia's AI Strategy.
• Key driver of project acquisition and execution, drafting winning proposals and leading the consolidated AI initiatives secured through competitive calls, such as RETECH, Fondos de Transición Nuclear, GovTech Catalunya, Cupons ACCIÓ, Programa de Apoyo a los Digital Innovation Hubs (PADIH), RedIA Salud, and Compra Pública de Innovación (CPI).

• Lead of AI research and development to enhance and further improve the functionalities and capabilities offered by the IRIS platform for first responders through ML and DL approaches.
• Responsible for the architecture and deployment of AI prototypes into production environments.
• Technical AI lead in the project "IRIS: AI-based assistant for front-line emergency management", funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator.
• Representative of the advisory board for the AI community in the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA).

• AI Invoice Recognition software (AIIR) for automatic invoice analysis through NLP techniques.

• AI4Fin project: Comparative studies of AI techniques for validation of financial invoices and bills.

• Image pre-processing, OCR implementation and layout design for invoices digitalization.

• Micro-controller programming and electronics technician in R&D department.

Thesis writing while working and receiving valuable guidance from experienced colleagues.
